The Reopening of Mister A’s: A New Legacy

Everyone loves an encore, and Mister A’s is continuing to wow the masses with its recent reopening. Established in 1965, Mister A’s reopened its doors to the public on October 11th after extensive renovations and design updates. The fine-dining landmark is poised to serve dishes as magnificent as its iconic view (of airplanes landing!) with a freshly curated menu.

Located on the 12th-floor penthouse on the Manchester Financial Building in Bankers Hill, Mister A’s has offered fine dining with a spectacular view for almost 60 years. Gilded chandeliers and crystal sconces sparkle over the blue velvet seats and crisp white table clothes that adorn each table, each one placed to take advantage of the view of San Diego.

The recent renovations have resurrected the classical styling of the private Blue Room and expanded the outdoor deck seating with upscale furniture made for savoring the view… with a cocktail or two.

Long-time Executive Chef Stephane Voitwinkler has reimagined Mister A’s menu with elevated dishes that will have you coming back week after week. Starters like King Oyster Mushroom Fitto are finely balanced with pecorino and black garlic aioli, while the Baby Beets are perfectly paired with creamy goat cheese and aromatic dill.

Mains like Rack of Colorado Lamb, Georges Bank Scallops, or Duroc Pork Chop are made all the better with complementary sides. It might be hard to choose between the Crispy Brussel Sprouts and Anson Mills Polenta, but you can rest assured that Mister A’s Mac & Cheese with black truffle is always a good idea.

Dessert is a must at Mister A’s. Pastry Chef Amy Simpson has created a menu of dessert-lover’s dreams. A Basque Cheesecake, Baked Alaska, and Chocolat Pot de Creme can all be found on the menu. HOT TIP: Mister A’s is a place to visit with friends who like to share.

Imbibe throughout the evening from their cocktail menu. Broken down by “CRISP, CLEAN & REFRESHING,” “DIRECT, SPIRIT-FORWARD,” and “SOMETHING IN THE MIDDLE,” their cocktails will leave you as mesmerized as your meal. A Shoulder Rub takes you south with coconut-infused rum, Campari and basil shrub, while the whiskey, Chaga and porcini mushroom bitters in a Foragers are for a discerning palette. Of course, if you’re more interested in a red or white, they have a 15-page wine menu that won’t disappoint.

Mister A’s is proud to reopen with a vision that looks to its future while also giving a nod to its past. A classically refined space, Mister A’s is the perfect setting for private events, special moments, and celebrations.
